Finally here I am. Before I start let me thank all those who believed in me and even those who dint that I’ll be able to complete my ride; Pune to Pondicherry on my machine ‘The Thunderbird’.
I am grateful to ‘Big Wheels Motoring’ who sponsored the ride. Thank you ‘Firelords’ for the tips and tricks which I learned while riding with you all, those really helped me to accomplish my ride.
I was planning this ride past three months i.e. the day I bought my Machine. My earlier route was very simple but then Kamal suggested me the route which was really exciting and wonderful which made this ride worth enjoying.
I started on 16th oct 2009 at 9:00 am which was 2hrs late as per schedule Kamal tagged along giving me riding Gyan till 40 Km from Pune, he was bit concern as mine being the first ride that too solo. Remembering what shammi advised, not t o halt before 100Km I started my ride from shirval. It was long way to go I reached Kolhapur at 2 pm. covering 238 Km. after lunch I started for Goa via Gaganbawada.
Crossing the ghats I entered sawantwadi called Kamal updating my route. I was just 2hrs away from Goa. Finally taking the highway I reached Goa by 9:30 pm completing my first day of ride successfully riding 438Kms approx. Some chilled beers and loud music at Kamaki was awesome. One cannot leave Goa without enjoying so I decided to stay for a day enjoying. No riding on 17th Oct. but enjoying Diwali in Goa.
On 18th I started for Mangalore. I was very eager to ride between sea and river the only place in the world is at Kundapur 100Km before Mangalore on NH17 the worst national highway one can ride.It was an experience to see the beauty and the miracle of nature where two different water bodies are so next to each other but, both tastes different. I stayed there for nearly an hour just looking that sheer beauty and witnessing the sunset. Thankfully the road ahead was better and I reached Mangalore by 9:00 pm successfully completed the second day riding 358 Kms.

Day fourth of ride and third day of riding was towards Mysore on 19th Oct. there are two routes to reach Mysore. One via ooty and second thru internal villages which save approx 100 Km and 2hrs of your travel I took the second one.
The roads were deserted seemed like very rarely travelled. I zoomed @ 120 on that road. Through dense jungles and beautiful green lush. I reached Mysore. Visited Mysore palace and had a royal dinner at Nalini Palace, believe me people it was amazing special Mysore royal thali a must for all. If you ever visit Mysore don’t miss this.
Next day on 20th Oct I started for Salem which was just 252 Kms to be covered but this was the best road throughout the ride till covered, the green jungle, the waterfall, and only sound was of the engine. The best part of the road was 27 hairpin bends which I did for the first time, amazingly without touching my feet to the ground.
WOW is all what I said when I finished those bends.
I so much wanted to do it again that I even thought for a moment that I should ride back to the top and try those pin bends but, I wanted to reach Salem in time and so I had to give up the idea. I was unaware that 20 more hairpin bends were waiting for me at Yercaud which is a beautiful hill station near salem in shevaroy hills of Tamil Nadu where I had my stay. There my wish was fulfilled I had ridden upwards 20 more bends. Thus I completed my fourth day of ride. I traveled down 20 bends the next day thus completing the count of 40 total hairpin bends done 67.
On 21st Oct I started for final destination Pondicherry.
Salem to Pondicherry was not much distance to cover it was a lot of off road riding till the time I reached NH 47 where I again zoomed covering 1 Km in 30 seconds it was mind blowing. As scheduled and decided I reached Pondicherry on 21st Oct 2009 at 10:00 pm. Without any breakdowns nor even a single mishap……Rocking Hard Rolling Safe…..
